What We Know: Samsung Is Likely To Take Design Cues From Apple For Its Upcoming Galaxy Smartwatch

Share

According to recent speculations, there may be a significant design update coming soon for the Samsung Galaxy Watch series. It is probable that the corporation will adopt Apple’s design cues and go with a square-shaped display, similar to the ones seen in the Apple Watch series. For the longest time, Samsung has stuck with its spinning dial design. However, it’s definitely time to switch things up, and it makes a lot of sense to use a new display design.

The Galaxy Watch range has seen improvements over the years, but the designs are becoming a little stale, so it’s time for a significant makeover from the company.

The story makes no indication of when Samsung would implement the new design, although it is probably a better idea to wait for the Galaxy Watch 8 series to launch before attempting to compete with Apple Watch’s array of square-shaped watches. Samsung began using Google’s WearOS technology with the release of the Galaxy Watch 4 series.

Another major issue facing wearable technology consumers is the subpar battery life, which is something that the next WearOS technology hopes to address. The new OnePlus Watch 2 seems to be the first device to make use of this new battery design, and it’s possible that future versions from Samsung and possibly Google Pixel may include the technology.

Given that the most recent Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic are similar to the Galaxy Watch 5 series, a redesign may be long overdue and will provide Samsung with more tools to rival the best in the market. Several sources indicate that a Samsung Galaxy launch event in July will be held to unveil the new Galaxy Z Foldables and the Galaxy Watch 7 series, so it may not be long before we see these devices.
