India KL, the wicketkeeper-batter Rahul, allegedly returned from London after seeking advice from eminent physicians about his quadriceps issue. Rahul participated in the first game of India’s current five-match Test series against England at home before being unable to play in the other four owing to quadriceps discomfort.

Although Rahul was selected for the squad, he wasn’t considered totally ready to return from the third test. He then skipped the fourth Test as well, and the BCCI later declared that he would not be playing in the final.

The Times of India said that the 31-year-old is expected to fully recover in time for the 2024 Indian Premier League, in which he will once again captain the Lucknow Super Giants.

He is eligible to play for India in the 2024 T20 World Cup and is anticipated to get his fitness certificate from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in the next few days.

“He (Rahul) had contacted leading London medical specialists. He arrived back in India on Sunday and is now receiving rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy of the Bangalore-based BCCI. The NCA should issue him a return-to-play certificate shortly. He’s expected to be selected as a “keeper-bat” for India in the T20 World Cup, therefore, he’s eager to establish himself in the IPL, a source told TOI.

Rahul has been dealing with a number of fitness issues for a while. He had a hamstring injury during an IPL 2023 game while fielding, which forced him to miss many months of play while recovering from surgery.

At the 2023 Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, Rahul struck a spectacular 100 against Pakistan to cap off India’s comeback. After that, he was crucial to India’s undefeated journey to the ODI World Cup championship.

Rahul participated in both the ODIs and Tests during India’s December tour to South Africa. He has not, however, played a Twenty20 international for India since the 2022 Australia 2022 T20 World Cup.
