The editors have brought up many important points, one of which is credit acknowledgment. They claim that they are not given proper recognition and that they are unable to contact the union for redress. The editors also point out a number of real-world difficulties, such not being paid for meals or travel, having to work every day of the week, including holidays, and having to put in long hours—up to fifteen hours—at work.

Drawing the attention of production companies and streaming platforms to these issues is the main goal of the complaint filed with FWICE. In addition to writing letters to a number of production companies and film authorities, the editors have also reached out to major streaming providers such as Netflix, Amazon, and Zee. They are awaiting answers so they can set up meetings to discuss these problems.

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees is the umbrella organization for the Indian Cinema Associations. It is acknowledged as a major Mumbai, India, film industry worker’s union, having 500,000 members as of 2020.

The editors’ involvement with FWICE is an indication of their group endeavor to bring about change. Their hope is to work with streaming services, production companies, and film authorities to make the required changes to current agreements. The objective is to identify fair remedies for the issues listed in their complaint. In its capacity as the industry’s representative group, the FWICE declares its dedication to pursuing equitable remuneration and finding solutions to the problems editors encounter. Meetings with the relevant groups in the near future will be essential to resolving and correcting the issues brought up, with a focus on making sure that film and video editors have a fair and comfortable place to work.
